the tempest

they were never sure if its written by shakespeare, but i 'm sure whoever wrote this, it hmust have been done in an old age.
for the theme is "forgiveness". forgive your enemy, forget the power/magic, gladly surrender to the mother nature.

lots of ambiguous love/relationship through out the play. the father/daughter, master/slave ones, betrayal, seperation, letting go/control, etc.

and at one point, the play was halted, as the peasants danced for the newly wed couple.

he said (from the original texts)"You do look, my son, in a moved sort,
As if you were dismay'd: be cheerful, sir.
Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and 1880
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Ye all which it inherit, shall dissolve 1885
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep. Sir, I am vex'd;
Bear with my weakness; my, brain is troubled: 1890
Be not disturb'd with my infirmity:
If you be pleased, retire into my cell
And there repose: a turn or two I'll walk,
To still my beating mind."

just as the actors before our eyes, will all, vanish without a trace.

i do love this scene a lot, for it again discusses the nature of theater, of fantasy/reality. the idea of "true" is never such a solid idea.

and the actor played ariel who played the lithe viola 4 years ago is simply amazing!

he can landed on the ground with the pushing up position and makes no sound a at all.

i am truly a fan of andrey kuzichev. he's brilliant.

it also rings a bell of post-colonialism, when the play is set on an "island", and "uneducated aboriginal", and the magician from the civilised world, it's hard not to read the production from a post colonial pov. yet the magician in the end kind reconciled with his "creature" (Frankenstein, anyone?)

totally loved this production by declan. all of the movements and gestures are so precise and efficient and with motivation. such fine acting. i'm blessed.

and the music the spirits made were just, heavenly. loved their "matrix" costume, and the way they can be transformed into ANY KIND of THINGS on the stage1!!
