Finally got to see this film, and remember it's a kuberick film.
It's a political/war satire, set to the background of cold war, and the ridiculousness of the leaders and the general.
So what if the most destructive weapons were to be controled by people who were disillusioned? The mission was then accomplished without any chance to cancel?
